After twelve weeks, 480 hours, countless projects, and even more cups of coffee, my time as a healthcare marketing intern is officially over.
In this time, I refined my video production skills and learned more about search campaigns than I ever thought possible. I was surrounded by amazing people, many of whom I now consider close friends and mentors. This summer helped me to grow professionally and personally, and I have enjoyed every moment of my time here (especially Food Truck Tuesdays!).
Here are three of the most important things I learned during my time at Netsertive:
1. Company Culture is Everything
The first thing that I learned at Netsertive occurred immediately. Netsertive operates as a business but acts as a family, and that makes all of the difference.
Work became something I looked forward to every day, and I never had to worry about standing out because I was an intern. Everyone, regardless of department, was happy to lend an ear and teach me something. Each person I worked with, or even talked to while making coffee, is someone I consider a friend. All of this positivity goes back to something called the “Netsertive Goodness,” a term coined by Head of Product Marketing, Gary Galloway.
Netsertive Goodness is something that is hard to explain but radiates throughout the entire company. Although I wasn’t able to become super close with everyone within these four walls, I always knew that I had (and continue to have) the support of everyone, and that is meaningful in a way that I cannot describe.
2. Hard Work Pays Off
The second thing I learned is something that I will take with me everywhere I go, which is that everything–and I mean everything–takes a lot of hard work.
From writing blogs to running search campaigns for dozens of locations in a healthcare system, everything an institution does takes a lot of hands, poised coordination, and stellar management. Consistent and productive collaboration is the only way we can achieve the flawless execution we’re known for.
Getting experience within a company that has so many moving parts is extremely valuable for becoming a well-rounded individual. I was lucky enough to have that experience throughout my summer here.
I will take this lesson and experience and apply it to the rest of my education and career—no matter where that takes me.
3. Real Learning Happens Outside the Classroom
The third thing I will take with me is wisdom you can only find within yourself. In my time here at Netsertive, I gained important insight into how I work and what I care about in a way that I could never recreate in a classroom.
I was able to spend my summer learning firsthand about digital marketing and the healthcare industry. But, more importantly, I learned so much about what I am capable of and what I want out of my career. Caring about what you do, who you are with, and the company you work for, makes all of the difference in the world. I am so grateful to have had such a great experience learning about myself and the world of marketing with Netsertive.
